We are pleased to be teamed up with some dynamic educators who are specialized in tutoring our dyslexic students. From time to time we spot light various tutors on our team with different specialties. Ann Youngerman is one of our trained specialized tutors working with our students in need of intervention due to dyslexia. Whether mild or severe Ann Youngerman is trained to meet your child at his/her level! You can schedule a meet-and-greet session with Ann to discuss specific concerns and receive a free consultation and assessment.

Hi there!  The above information is an overview about me.  I have been a teacher since 1996.  I am married to a wonderful man of 10 years.  We have a beautiful daughter who is in the third grade.  I would like to share as well, my passion for learning and meeting the learning styles of my students.

My passion is getting children excited about books and teaching them to read and write! I believe learning should be fun.  The teaching of Phonics and Spelling will enable them to begin a successful journey of Reading and Comprehension.

I am certified for all subjects, P-5; however, my primary focus is on Reading and all components of the Language Arts in all grade levels through late middle school.   I welcome the opportunity to work with your child in a fun and exciting environment.  My teaching style will be adapted to meet your child’s learning style.  Together, we will formulate tools to ensure your child’s academic success.

I am Orton Gillingham trained through the Academy and am currently taking a 70 hour course, The Complete Reading Series. I am very passionate about phonics, spelling and reading.

Curriculum will be determined based on needs of the child. I have a heavy emphasis on phonics and spelling which will ensure success in all other core subjects.

I have teaching experience at the elementary level in various grades and all subject matter. I enjoy working with all learning styles, but am very passionate about a child with Dyslexia.

I look forward to working with you!

This is lengthy but an excellent read concerning the ADD/ADHD community and what motivates us to meet each student at his/her own personal level.

Seeing Stars  is a comprehensive program for teaching reading and spelling. This program helps establish phonemic awareness and orthographic processing, improving decoding, sight-word recognition, spelling, and reading fluency.

Some children, teens, or adults can't read or spell accurately even though they have good vocabulary and listening comprehension.  They often add, omit, substitute, and reverse sounds and letters in words without realizing it. They may memorize words for a spelling test but later can't spell those same words when they write something.  They may recognize a familiar word sometimes, but they may miss the same word further down the page. When they get to a new word they try to guess what it is, skip it, or misread it because they have difficulty knowing the sounds of the letters.  They may have trouble writing what they would like to say because they have to use words they can spell.   Usually, their reading comprehension is weak, because they have misread or they have not been able to read many of the words.  The child, parent, and teacher feels frustrated.   Some possible symptoms:

Weak reading  or word attack skills
Weak reading comprehension
Weak spelling
Weak rapid naming or reading fluency
Weak Phonemic Awareness
Symptoms of dyslexia

Seeing Stars was authored by Nanci Bell, M.A., Director and CEO of Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, and the program has been used in Lindamood-Bell® Learning Centers and School Services partnerships since 1997.
